, what that's like for president obama or for any president and also in terms of what we see and what we hear as voters, as americans, is there going to be a slightly different voice for obama because there's a new speechwriter? >> we don't. it's like a favorite tv show and aaron sorkin left the show. is it going to change now that he's gone or something like that? you know, with president obama as was the case with president clinton and most of these folks, it's their voice and they are deeply involved in the writing of a speech like the state of the union. it's not as if they're kind of handed a piece of paper or someone points at the teleprompter and tells them to look. it is a bit of a transition. john favreau president obama's speechwriter in the first term had a close relationship with him going back to the campaign and worked with him and writes. he actually works on a laptop and works on text, you know. it really varies quite a bit. president clinton whom i worked with for many years, he wrote but he especially wrote speeches talking out loud, by trying outlines and whole paragra

president obama laid out yesterday rveg yesterday, he was asking them to take it off the table and put the idea of a grand bargain back on the table. it takes that same basic $1.2 trillion target and this time about half from new revenues and closing loopholes and deductions. the other half is from sbrilthsmentes and this idea of cpi which is a reduction in benefits for people. how would you compare the grand bargains to the programs in which you are talking about if the sequester takes place. is one worse than the other? >> do we have to have this discussion at all? we should be looking at a patient approach. we are in a time when the economy is fragile and some of the communities hardest hit by the economy that we are currently in whether it's rural communities or white men who lost jobs and lost employment at higher rates and had a harder time finding jobs. that means investing in our people and infrastructure like public transit and broadband access and all the things that get our economy back to work and create jobs, jobs, jobs. that's what this is about. our deficit has been comi

for impeachment. didn't senator obama demand transparency and promise it in his own? the issues enumerated at this table, i'll go through again vis-a-vis this memo. talked about civilian deaths including children. this doesn't account for that. doesn't try to justify that or explain that. rules of engagement which i have said are necessary going forward to continue a drone policy. questions like are we at war when we employ drone strikes in yemen, for example? is that a war situation? would we consider pakistan declaring war on us if they advanced drone strikes on us? i think we would. this document basically says we can fire on a host nation with their consent or because they do not give it. that's pretty fuzzy. that's pretty vague. the third issue we have talked about is due process. and apparently we can completely subvert the constitution and kill americans without due process if their capture is quote/unquote infeasible and imminent threat. that's vague and easy to sort of get around. and fourth, the issue that i've also brought up is just the hypocrisy. this is fine and good under ob

. and that is the charge mostly by republicans that if you feel any different about the drone program under president obama than you would have under george w. bush, you are an utter, hopeless hypocrite. let me ask you a question. how would you feel about a madeleine albright panel on women and body image. now how do you feel about the larry flint panel on women and body image. how do you feel about your kid and dr. ruth's sex ed class ver tus todd akin? do you feel different about warren buffett versus bernie madoff? of course you do because you're normal. according to the republican logic, if you feel any different about midlan albright and larry flint, you are a hypocrite. look, i voted for president obama because i trust his values and his judgment and i believe that he's a fundamentally responsible actor without gratuitously slamming ex-president bush, i think he displayed lapses in judgment in executing his primary responsibility in commander in chief and put troops in harm's way imprudently. president obama would have exercised better judgment and he has exercised better judgment. the way it stands
